How does my dog enter?
We’re assuming your dog has neither opposable thumbs nor access to the internet, so you’ll have to act as your dog’s agent to get their audition to us. Don’t worry, it’s as easy as lights, camera, action. First, upload your favourite video of your dog to social media (make sure to tag us @butternutbox and use #DogsDeserveFame so we can see it). Then fill in our entry form (just above), which includes a link to your social post with the audition tape. After that, we’ll review the hopefuls and be in touch to let you know if your dog got the part. We’ll also be picking ten dogs to get their own billboards, so there’s plenty of chances to win.
What should be in the audition tape?
In short: anything goes. We want to get a glimpse of who they are - any clip that shows off their personality and lets their star power shine through. Whether that’s their best trick, a snippet of their favourite walkies, their most impressive WOOF or simple shot of their afternoon snooze. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got.
Do I have to be a Butternut Box customer to enter?
No, this competition is open to everyone and anyone. Spreading the word about the competition might just nab you a few extra entries, though…just saying.
Can I enter more than one dog?
Yep - if there’s more than one budding starlet in your furry family, we’d love to see all their tapes. Just make sure you enter them separately. One dog per entry.

What am I entering to win?
One lucky dog will win a starring role in our next TV ad. We're shooting at the end of the year (dates TBC) and need a good boy or girl to take the lead role. Step aside, Dulux dog and Andrex puppy - there’s a new furry face in town.
But that’s not all…we’ll also be choosing ten dogs who will get their very own billboard. They’ll get a full photoshoot, and we’ll pick their best close up to adorn a billboard near you. They’ll be the talk of the town.
How will the winners be picked?
We’ll review each and every audition tape we receive (it’s one of the best days of the year), and our favourite entry will win the top prize of TV stardom. Ten more will get the coveted billboard spots. There’s no strict criteria for winning - every dog is different, and we want to celebrate all things weird and wonderful about them, whatever that may be. Did it make us smile? Are they a very good boy or girl? Do they have the X Factor? (Oh wait…wrong TV competition). Anyone can be a winner.
When will winners be announced?
We’ll email all entrants by the 9th of October to let you know if you’re a winner or not. Fingers (and paws) crossed.
Do I have to be in the advert?
No, we’re only casting for canines here. We’d love to have you on set to act as your dog’s agent, handler, and general cheerleader, but there’ll be no role for you on camera. Save the limelight for your pooch.
What can I expect on the day of the shoot if I win?
In short: Lights. Cameras. And plenty of action.
It is a working TV set, so your dog will need to be comfortable with being around lots of people (and potentially some other dogs too). There will be flashing lights and moving cameras which can spook some dogs if they’re not used to it.
Rest assured we’ll be in touch with the winner to give full details of the day nearer the time, and will be on hand to answer all questions too.
